1. Does Profile have a nondairy or lactose-free plan?
At Profile, we have meal plans that can fit a variety of dietary patterns – whether you have a food allergy, intolerance, or follow certain dietary patterns. For those who need a low-lactose or lactose-free diet, we have a plan for you! With a selection of Profile foods that do not contain dairy, your Profile coach can provide you with a list of both grocery store items and Profile products that can fit right into your weight loss plan!
2. A day in the life of a nondairy/lactose-free member
For individuals who do not consume dairy, we recommend our Balance nutrition plan. Although we have plant-based protein shakes and bars, many of the other Profile foods contain dairy proteins. The Balance plan would offer more variety in foods. Here’s what a day on Balance would look like for a member following a dairy-free diet:
Snickerdoodle Shake + Peanut Butter Toast w/ Sliced Strawberries
Taco Salad + Baked Tortilla Chips and Salsa
Apple Slices + Mixed Nuts
Chili Lime Shrimp with Brown Rice
3. Healthy recipes for weight loss.
There are many people out there who eat dairy-free and/or lactose-free and are also trying to follow their health goals. You aren't alone! You can still eat and enjoy all of your favorite foods while excluding certain ingredients with common day substitutes and creative recipes. And we've got you covered with plenty of ideas to keep your tastebuds satisfied. We have rounded up some of our favorite recipes anyone can dish up, even with dairy and lactose allergies. Check them out!
4. Milk allergy vs lactose intolerance
A milk allergy and lactose intolerance are two very different dietary restrictions. A food allergy happens when your immune system overreacts to a specific food protein (dairy proteins including whey and casein). When you eat or drink the food protein, it can trigger an allergic reaction. Whereas food intolerances do not involve the immune system. People who are lactose intolerant are missing the enzyme lactase which breaks down lactose, a sugar found in milk and dairy products. As a result, people with lactose intolerance are unable to digest these foods and often experience symptoms such as nausea, cramps, gas, bloating, and diarrhea.
5. Find your plan
We know living with special dietary restrictions isn't always easy, especially when working towards a healthier lifestyle. But we want to make your weight loss journey as smooth and convenient as possible. Not only do we want to see the number on the scale go down, but the non-scale victories along the way are just as important on a member's journey like gaining energy, being able to do more of what you love, having new experiences, reducing medical burdens, and so many more.
