Niagara Syndrome is a state of living in which a person exerts no control over their life and instead passively moves in the direction of wherever the current of life is taking them.

If you find yourself passively going wherever life takes you, there are a few things you can do to take back control of your life, starting with the two tips above. Once you know your values and goals, you can start making proactive decisions to help you achieve them.

Second, you need to start taking action. Whether your goal is to lose 15 pounds or 100 pounds, don't just sit back and wait for things to happen to you. Get out there and make things happen!

Finally, you need to be patient. Losing weight and keeping it off long-term takes time, so don't get discouraged if you don't see results immediately. 

During moments of temptation, pause and ask if your actions align with your values. If not, reconnect with your sense of purpose and remind yourself of the values driving your goals. Consistently checking in with your values builds a strong defense against self-sabotage, making it easier to resist temptations and stay focused on long-term success.
