Profile’s Original Weight Loss Success Story: Wayne Crosby, CFO

Someone once said that major life improvements come down to a few “a-ha” moments. For Wayne Crosby, former Profile Plan Chief Financial Officer, it’s totally true!

The first thing to know about Wayne is that he is not your typical Profile member. Not only is he the first Profile member, he’s also one of the first employees.

“Profile was looking for a finance person, so I joined as the fourth employee,” says Wayne. “As I was learning about the weight loss business, I learned what Body Mass Index (BMI) is.”

Wayne’s “a-ha” moment came when he stepped on a scale and discovered his BMI was teetering close to 30.

“That was my wake-up call,” says Wayne. “I needed a weight loss plan. Profile was developing a pilot and boy did I jump on that.”

What is BMI?

BMI is measured by taking a person’s weight in kilograms and dividing it by the square of their height in meters.

Based on the results of that measurement, you could be put in one of four categories. Underweight, healthy weight, overweight or obesity.

According to the CDC a BMI of 30 (which is close to where Wayne was at) is considered obese.

The table below shows the weight status categories associated with BMI ranges:

BMI

Weight Status

Below 18.5

Underweight

18.5 – 24.9

Normal or Healthy Weight

25.0 – 29.9

Overweight

30.0 and Above

Obese

What are the health risks of a high BMI?

  • All-causes of death
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • High cholesterol
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Coronary heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Gallbladder disease
  • Sleep apnea and breathing problems
  • Some cancers
  • Low quality of life
  • Mental illness such as clinical depression, anxiety and other mental disorder

Wayne’s attributes his success to health coaching

“I lost over 30 pounds after about 4 months and my BMI went back into the normal range at 24,” says Wayne. “The coaching was such a critical element that allowed me to get my goals.”

Health coaching is the heart and soul of what Profile is.

A health coach will offer motivation, accountability, confidence and the chance to grow self-awareness through support, feedback and education.

Certified Profile coaches serves as a guide through a personalized weight loss plan that brings together your individual goals, health conditions, personal preferences and even genetics.

Once a week, Profile members meet with their health coach to discuss progress, walk through their journey mapping, talk about goals and to make sure they’re getting the support you need to succeed.

Although Wayne no longer balances numbers for Profile Plan, he does keep his scale and BMI numbers balanced!

“After seven years I’m still a Profile member, “says Wayne. “You know, I’ve developed a lot of good healthy lifestyle changes and that’s the reason I’m able to keep the weight off.”

Your health coach will help guide you into a sustainable plan for the future. There’s no doubt that challenges will arise as you move from the initial weight loss phase into your new healthy lifestyle.

The difference between Profile and lots of other weight loss plans out there is that your coach continues to be a resource for you. Life happens and your coach will be there to provide support through anything that comes up.
