Making Heart Health Easier

woman and coach stretching together, focusing on heart health

For more than 50 years, American Heart Month has focused on heart health and understanding the risks of heart disease. Events during the month, including the popular Go Red for Women Day, are great opportunities to promote heart health.

Profile’s approach to heart health is different. We want to make improving heart health easier. With the support and guidance of our certified coaches, Profile members are able to take control of their heart health by making healthier choices every day. Shannon is the perfect example of this.

When a national awareness month comes up, people often ask me what Profile is doing to join the effort. Here’s my answer: We are experts in healthy lifestyle change, so we focus on changing behaviors that lead to lasting change. Our work helps reduce risk factors associated with several conditions.

Here are four key things you can do to take a step towards a healthier lifestyle.

Key #1: Make a choice to change

Nothing is more powerful than your decision to commit to a healthy lifestyle. We are ready to help you keep the positive momentum and navigate the road ahead. When you look to Profile for help, we want you to understand what it means to be taking the steps toward a healthier life.

Setting expectations for success is exactly why we made our Journey Mapping. When you want to live healthier, Journey Mapping outlines a path of planned, meaningful healthy lifestyle education so you can see success and results.

Key #2: Understand why you want to change

We previously shared an article to help you understand the importance of “Finding Your Why.” It’s an important conversation our coaches always have with new members.

The reality is that our most successful members don’t make a lifestyle change for heart health or to lower their blood pressure. Their why is usually something bigger, something more motivating. For example, a member getting healthy so they can live longer and see their grandkids grow up. Finding your why ultimately makes lasting change seem easier.

Key #3: Know your numbers

There are a lot of numbers that will change during your journey. Our Smart Body Scale provides a couple of numbers – weight and body composition – so you can immediately see your progress. Your coach will also work with you to set other goals that focus less on numbers and more on life’s smaller victories.

We encourage everyone to know the numbers that impact their heart and cardiovascular health. If you don’t, talk to your physician or health care provider.

Key #4: Make healthy lifestyle change easier

Profile’s heart health efforts do not begin and end in the month of February. We work year-round with members who are committed to making healthy lifestyle changes, providing them with the tools and feedback that they need to help them reach their goals. Furthermore, our members can take solace in the fact that they are not alone on their journeys – our coaches are committed to providing support every step of the way.
